Outsystems Platform Server with SQL server 2008
At least until today, when a database is not found, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express is automatically installed by OutSystems Platform Express Edition Installer. When we install the latest version of OutSystems on a computer, with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 already installed, it will instead use this version.
That was what I’ve done in a in house development server. I installed the SQL server 2008 on an old Windows XP PC, P4 80 GB hard drive and 1.5 MB SDRAM. Afterword, I installed Outsystems Server platform 7. I do not know what happened, probably I’ve done something wrong, but when I looked at it, I had both versions of SQL server running (2005 and 2008) and Outsystems server installed on the SQL server 2005. I had done other installations before, including with OS version 6, and all got installed in MS SQL server 2008.
The database wasn’t compatible with the ones I had backed up before. All backups were done on SQL server 2008, so I had to revert the situation. I just uninstalled SQL server 2005, deleted all database files, including Outsystems.mdf and reinstalled Outsystems. This time all things were as they supposed to be. No SQL server 2005 installed and OutSystems database on SQL server 2008.
